Bamboo House Chinese Food

My family has been coming here for years and I have nothing but good things to say about Bamboo House. Prices are very good, and the food is even better. The staff are always friendly as well. I’d recommend the Cantonese chow mien, salt and pepper squid and chicken fried rice (everything else is great too but these are the mains my family always orders)

Wow, this is my go to place in Calgary for high quality Chinese cuisine . Been here several times and it's always been great quality food, like they're good at keeping the recipe good if ya know what I mean. Ginger beef is amazing, and the rice is so good I can't believe a shrimp fried it! (LOL bad joke sorry) But yeah the shrimp rice fried is bomb.

This is a great little neighbourhood gem! Tiny little restaurant in a strip mall, with pick up/take out/delivery only, but don't judge a book by its cover... I was so impressed by how consistently good all the dishes were..some of the best Chinese I've had in Calgary! I ordered for pickup, and it was ready in 15 minutes. It was all super fresh, hot and tasty, with generous portions. The lemon chicken, salt and pepper squid and ginger beef were all so crispy and crunchy. Nice tender veggies and beef in the beef and broccoli, and both the chow mein and chicken fried rice were very flavourful. Definitely recommend!

I’ve not been feeling well. So I decided to get some wonton soup to help me feel better. I’m picky about my wonton soup. This has really good flavour and absolutely delicious. Perfect for my upset tummy. I will order in again

Some of the best Canadian-style Chinese food I have ever had. Highly recommend the Pork Dumplings, Beef Fried Ho Fun Noodle and Black Pepper Beef on Noodle.

We do take out so ignore my ratings for service/atmosphere, but the food is always delicious, portions are as expected and better! Quality is always great consistent with the flavours as we've ordered from here monthly for about 6 months now it's always delicious. Ginger beef, vegetable and shrimp fried rice are my favourites.

TLDR: Wow! So much yum! 5/5 stars from me. We tried Bamboo House Calgary, for the first time tonight. I’m so impressed and so thrilled! Definitely recommend! They have a section where you can list allergens and dietary restrictions and they will call you if what you ordered can’t be altered. They say they make everything fresh to order, so they are able to accommodate people’s dietary needs for many items. I’m not gluten free but they have gluten free options and I think vegetarian options as well. We ordered one of the dinner for two options and it included: 2 spring rolls or 2 battered egg rolls. We didn’t want battered egg rolls, so we got the spring rolls. They were exactly how I like them. Crispy. Packed full of sprouts, cabbage, veggies, spices etc. Chicken chow mein- delicious. It’s the kind with crispy noodles that soften as the sauce blends in. Chicken fried rice- I didn’t wind up trying it. My stomach was getting full so quickly and I didn’t want to waste my tummy room on rice lol Sweet and sour spare ribs- these were a surprise front runner for me! I thought my husband would enjoy it and that I wouldn’t like it very much. But it was a really tasty brown sweet and sour sauce and the pork was such a good addition. Some protein that isn’t fried, to counteract some of the deep fried stuff Battered torpedo shrimp with red sweet and sour sauce. These were like sweet and sour chicken balls but with shrimp, so even better, imo. The batter was similar to chicken balls and the red sauce is the same. We really enjoyed it. This is what was in the meal for two. We also added on their weekly special- Salt and pepper squid. It was one of my favorites from tonight. The squid wasn’t rubbery at all. It wasn’t fishy. It was perfectly cooked. It wasn’t as spicy as I hoped it would be but it has amazing flavour to it, that makes up for it not being as spicy as I expected when they wrote hot/spicy beside it. I will definitely get this again!! I’ll ask to see if it can be made spicier, next time. We also got the ten wontons with egg noodles and soup on the side. But the soup wasn’t on the side. It was all in one container. But that didn’t really matter to me. I didn’t feel like broth so I just plucked a wonton out and put it on my plate. The noodles were cooked to just the right consistency. The meat inside the wonton wrapper was full of flavour and it is just such a soothing food. We also got 3 fortune cookies. They must have followed my allergy requests because I did not have any reactions from their food. And now we have a ton of leftovers yay!

Was skeptical at first trying new places, but I was not disappointed here. I tried it after a friend told me they go out of their way to come here. The ginger chicken was fresh with enough sauce, same as the ginger beef. The chow mein is delicious. I prefer soya sauce and no meat in my noodles, so I took that option. Tasty with no tummy aches, so I will return and recommend.Mm so good! I got take out so I can't do a 5star on the atmosphere. (11/10)
